Dodged a Bullet

travelswithkuma hasn't posted much ever since LiveJournal changed front-end formats that made it harder than ever for him and Lisa to use LJ; however, it wouldn't have been able to do so for the past couple of days anyway, due to a widespread internet failure in Northern Nevada for AT&T customers. It was reportedly a software issue, not a hardware one (nobody dug up the fiber-optic lines).

It's a good thing I wasn't working from home this week, because I have to be online to do my job. I either would have had to quickly pack up and make my way back to the Bay Area or possibly found a way to use my smartphone (which is not on AT&T) to connect my computer through a tether to the internet. I shudder to think of what the bandwidth charges would have been.

Lisa just left me a message on Skype to confirm that the internet came back on at Fernley sometime this morning.
