Jan. 9th, 2014 03:41 pmAs you may know, Hugo Award nominations are now open for the 2014 Hugo & Campbell Awards and the 1939 Retrospective Hugo Awards. Cheryl and jointly wrote the announcement at TheHugoAwards.org. If you were paying close attention, you might have noticed that many other sites such as Locus had announced the opening of nominations at least a day before the official Hugo site made the announcement, and if so, you might have wondered what was holding us up.

It took us long enough to get back in the good graces of Hugo Administrators that we are very leery of breaking that trust, even when the current year's Worldcon has apparently done so. Therefore, we waited until well after the embargo lifted before publishing our own announcement. Once burned, twice shy.
