Unexpected Snow

I still want to write about this past weekend's train drama, but I've been working so many hours on the Day Jobbe that I have a bad twitch in my eyes and am trying to avoid as much screen-staring as I can. This morning, I went outside to feed the birds and noticed that we'd had some rain last night. Looking up to the west, I saw something unexpected in the second half of May.

( Snow? In May? )

It was nearly cold enough today to justify starting a fire in the fireplace, even though I'd completely cleaned up the stove several weeks ago. I decided not to do so, but it was a near thing.
