Virtual NASFiC Day 3
Aug. 23rd, 2020 03:29 pmToday was the third and final day of the scaled-down and virtual only online version of the 2020 NASFiC. I attended a couple of panels, starting with the panel on "Running SF/F Organizations" that included Cheryl Morgan. (The virtual nature of the convention allowed Cheryl to participate in three panels at a convention nominally in Columbus, Ohio, in a country that prohibits her from entering it.) Then it was the Closing Ceremony, and the convention was over, save for the parties.

NASFiC seemed to go pretty well. Apparently more than 1000 people registered and "attended," which is pretty good. The technical challenges were significant, particularly because many of the likely people to work on it were still coming off CoNZealand. I enjoyed my participation. It's not the same as a "live" convention, and I certainly hope that we'll be able to start holding in-person conventions again someday, but I am glad we have events like this.
