Time for a Change
Mar. 13th, 2021 04:07 pmWhile we were doing the Nevada Outback Tour last weekend, I happened to notice that it had been more than a year since I'd last had the oil changed on the Astro, and while we haven't put nearly as many miles on the minvan as we usually do, it was well overdue for an oil change. Today seemed to be tolerably nice weather (important as I had no intention of spending much time in their waiting room), I headed off after breakfast to the Jiffy Lube in Sparks. They were a bit backed up, but as they had socially-distanced outdoor seating, I had a jacket to wear and a book to read, and the weather was early-spring-like, I wasn't bothered.
( Fire Call )
I was impressed that the Jiffy Lube technician was able to get at the air filter. The way the Astro's engine sits, you typically have to take the interior "doghouse" off to get at the air filter, which in this case also means removing the radio console Lisa installed between the front seats. He managed to get at it from the front, and the air filter did look like it needed replacing. They did not have the right filter in stock, but they are next door to an O'Reilly Auto Parts, and at their suggested I walked next door and bought the correct filter, which they installed at no extra charge.
With the oil and other fluids and filters either changed or checked, and after the brake and shock work we did a couple of weeks ago, we're ready for a road trip — if long multi-day road trips were a thing right now. Soon, soon, I hope. Just what percentage of the US population is over 65 years old?
