Just a Dusting
Mar. 15th, 2021 05:29 pmIt was a pretty nice weekend, but I saw in the forecast that things were going to change, with Monday's forecast high some 10°C lower than Sunday. Donner Summit was hit by lots of snow (chain controls stretched for some fifty miles at one point), Fernley was effectively untouched.
( Blink and You'll Miss It )
It was not a day to go out and do things. Which is just as well as I have a lot of work on my plate this week. I managed to get to bed early last night to try and catch up with that lost hour. I know that California wants year-round daylight-savings time, whereas I'd prefer if Nevada went the Arizona route and went to year-round standard time, but what's important is that we stop shifting back and forth. It's disorienting and unnecessary. I recognize, however, that whatever California does, Nevada will in practice have to follow. With the exception of part of the far eastern part of the state (particularly Wendover), Nevada's economy is locked to California's desire to engage in Nevada-based recreation. It would be particularly rough on the Lake Tahoe area if the two sides of the lake were in different time zones.
