Tonopah Staff Weekend: Moving Out
Jul. 11th, 2021 07:38 pmThis morning, I had an opportunity to take photos of the Nevada Club room in the Belvada Hotel that I did not have yesterday during our walk-through.
( A Welcome Addition to Our Program Space )
I got an extended checkout in order to attend a DisCon III meeting. After the meeting,
lindadee walked down from her hotel (the Best Western Hi-Desert Inn) to the Belvada while Lisa and I finished moving out of our hotel room and getting our stuff into the minivan. I had earlier that morning refueled the Astro at the Rebel Oil cardlock station (open to anyone with a credit card), saving 13 cent/gallon over the Main Street gas stations. After a brief stop at Raley's for some needed supplies for the road, we set off for Reno.
( Our Route )
Between Tonopah and RNO, we made only one short rest stop at the El Capitan casino in Hawthorne, and covered the distance in only 4 1/2 hours, which in my opinion is excellent time as it included some slow stretches puttering through Fallon and briefly rolling past Fernley House (but not stopping). We thus were able to drop Linda at the airport considerably earlier than we originally expected, so she had more than enough time to catch her flight.
Lisa and I started to go somewhere to eat dinner, but after looking at our first choice and making a restroom stop, decided to go home instead.
As expected, the house is stuffy and hot. Lisa is trying to cool down in her travel trailer, but her air conditioning unit out there is laboring in the heat as well. I'm working my way through messages I had to ignore during the committee/staff weekend.
I'm really glad we did this trip, but I'm going to need some time to recover from it.
