Crowne Plaza Dethroned
Jan. 11th, 2022 02:27 pmAs I mentioned back on the first day of the Worldcon trip, we stayed in the Crowne Plaza Sacramento, where we've stayed a number of times (most of when I was visiting my late sister at the nearby nursing facility in which she was living), and that I'd once again been given a suite upgrade there, albeit that hotel's suites were somewhat oddly shaped and arranged. It turns out that this won't be anything about which I need to concern myself again.
When I was making projected plans for the trip home from San Jose to Fernley, I was checking hotel rates for IHG properties in the Sacramento area in case we needed to bail out halfway home. I wondered why that Crowne Plaza wouldn't show up on the list. A little bit more Googling showed that it wasn't there anymore.
( Well, the hotel is still open, but... )
My IHG elite status is usually used when traveling to/from conventions, as relatively few IHG properties are part of Worldcons or Westercons. However, I noted that what used to be the Moat House in Glasgow is now an IHG property, and assuming that they win their 2024 Worldcon bid, I look forward to possibly taking advantage of my status there.
