Yesterday, I wanted to look up our Amtrak tickets for the Worldcon trip to make sure everything was still in order. I got worried when I went to the Amtrak site, clicked on "My Trips," and only saw my return from Chicago, not the outbound trip. It would have been Very Bad if somehow I'd not actually completed our outbound reservation, only the return. I started to hunt around. I'd written down the reservation numbers of both trips, but Amtrak's online system wouldn't recognize the outbound reservation number.

Just as I was about to call Amtrak and settle in for the long way to get through to an agent, I finally realized what had happened. The outbound trip RNO-CHI was purchased using Amtrak Guest Reward points, while the return CHI-RNO was purchased normally for money. Amtrak's regular website only shows paid reservations. To look at AGR points reservations, you have to go to the separate Amtrak Guest Rewards website. This is annoying, but at least I could confirm that the ticket is there as well.
