Simple Household Pleasures
Aug. 19th, 2022 10:22 amYesterday a series of thunderstorms passed over Fernley, including one that for about 10-15 minutes dumped what seemed like a lot of water. That's all good, and it cooled things down considerably, so when the rain stopped, it was cool enough for Lisa and me (and Kuma) to just sit on the front porch for a while, watching the birds (pigeons and quail) come nibble on the pile of birdseed (and potato chip crumbs) that I've been leaving for them in the lot next door, and also to spot one of the rabbits come over to the field, only to eventually tear off in a great hurry the other direction. We have come to like sitting out here when the weather permits, which in practice usually only means during spring and autumn. Some summer days are cool enough in the evening to allow it, but not many.
