kevin_standlee: (Reno)
The reason we were headed into Reno yesterday was to go back to Gold Ranch and buy more lottery tickets, but the eleven-mile tailback on I-80 meant we wouldn't have made it to the Lottery Shop before it closed. Fortunately, nobody won, and Wednesday's draw is estimated at $1.2 Billion. Today we got away much earlier, and there were no traffic problems, but it did start raining, and indeed, by the time we got to Gold Ranch, it was turning into an icy rain that was on the verge of snow by the time we left.

I won $4 on the previous draw, but you have to go to a staffed terminal to get your winnings, and I did not want to wait through the queue. I bought more tickets on the self-service machines. I can collect any small-time winnings the next time I drive to California.

After purchasing some dreams, we went to Raley's in Sparks and bought a lot of groceries, redeeming store credit and coupons that would have expired tomorrow. The icy rain continued to fall, and Kuma Bear complained about getting wet. I said, "So am I!"

"Yes, buts yous dries outs fasters." He has a point.

It was not raining when we got home, which made unloading easier.

While we were out today, I got a call from Steve-the-plumber, who also cleans our chimney. He says he'll be here on Sunday. That's good because I'm pretty sure we'll need to start using the fireplace pretty soon. I still need to check with Big R to make sure they'll be stocking Press-to-Logs; otherwise it's going to get a lot more complicated.
