No more tourism until after Worldcon. The Worldcon 2021 trip counter changes from days since we left to days relative to the Worldcon. The convention starts on Wednesday. The Omni Shoreham was a hive of activity as fans bustled about building our five-day village. Lisa and I were concentrating on my responsibilities to the Business Meeting and to the Winnipeg in 2023 Worldcon Bid.

Spot the WSFS Banner

In the middle left of this photo, to the left of the balconies, you may be able to see a blue banner hung inside the windows. That is the small vinyl WORLD SCIENCE FICTION SOCIETY banner that we have been hanging on the head table of the Business Meeting since 2015 when Sasquan paid to make it. It has spent most of its time in a poster tube stored with me. Lisa and I have been working on counter-rolling the banner to get the curl out that was caused by its two years in storage. Lisa got the idea to hang the banner up so tray and help get rid of the curl. I left the bag at home of cords we already had for this purpose. Fortunately, this neighborhood is amazingly convenient, and there is an Ace Hardware between here at the hotel and the Metro station.

Lisa and I also intended to do our convention registration today, but nobody got to do that, as there appears to have been a problem with the registration computers, and thus advance registration was unable to open on Tuesday. I hope they get that straightened out overnight so we can register on Wednesday. This is apt to be a longer than usual process, given that we all have to show our COVID-19 vaccination proof as part of the registration process.

The big deal for me on Tuesday had to do with the 2023 Winnipeg Worldcon bid, but more about that in the next entry.
