Overdue Maintenance

Yesterday afternoon, Lisa replaced the anode rod in the water heater in her travel trailer.

At left is the new rod that she installed shortly after we took this photo. In the middle is a previous anode rod worn to about the point where it should be replaced. At right is the rod she removed from the water heater. We reckon that we're about a year overdue for this replacement at least. Also, we have pretty hard water here, which means rods should be replaced more often.

After removing the old rod, Lisa flushed out the water heater, and there was a whole lot of gunk that came out of it.
The actual replacement was pretty straightforward, and the water heater refilled and reheated without incident.
