Snow Deposit, Snow Return

Except for some sheltered areas and places where snow from the last few storms was piled up to get it out of the way, the area around Fernley House and the East Lot was mostly clear of snow until the latest band of weather that has been pounding the west coast dropped what was left in it after it closed highways and added to the Sierra snow pack.

Light snow fell starting sometime after 10 PM last night. When I got up this morning, there was 1-2 cm accumulation on the front porch rail, which is where I usually measure.

I cleared the porch when I got a break from Day Jobbe after my regular morning meetings with my fellow team members, but snow continued to fall throughout the morning, sometimes heavily. This is what it looked like a couple of hours after my first clearance.

As the snow began to slacken off in the early afternoon (although you can still see it falling in this photo), I made another pass to try and keep the porch and sidewalk passable.
Total accumulation for the last 24 hours amounts to 8-10 cm. There's one more round of snow forecast for Wednesday, after which things should be clear for a few days. Temperatures are supposed to stay mostly below freezing, however, so it's unclear how much of this snow will melt on its own. I expect to have more snow to shovel tomorrow because I did not clear the entire sidewalk today, only the section connecting the front porch to the trailer and garage. The exercise is good for me.
