Gone To Town

Cheryl and I have things scheduled up in San Francisco both tonight and tomorrow. In a few minutes, we're heading off to BART to make the trip up to a reception at the British Consul-General's residence. Thank goodness there was nothing scheduled for yesterday!

Edit, 23:30: Cheryl points out that I didn't know how to spell "Consul-General." D'oh!

Cheryl explains it all. Basically the British university she attended was hosting a reception for alumni, and Cheryl invited me along.

But yes, it does sound pretty classy, doesn't it? It was the second time in a month that I wore my business suit, and the previous time before that was for hosting Match Game SF. I only own one suit, on account of needing one so rarely.

You will have to explain this tomorrow or late tonight. Very nice meetup. I know it isn't meeting the Prime Minister or the US Ambassador to UK, but it still cool.

The Consul-General was a very nice chap, and as both he and Cheryl are Welsh and share a love of rugby, there's a chance we might get invited up to the city again in less formal circumstances. And his Official Residence is a very nice house in the Presidio, clearly in one of the ritzier parts of The City, and a few doors down from Senator Feinstein's house. As he said in his remarks during the reception, "I'd tell you how much it cost, but if would violate the Official Secrets Act."
