The first week of the Olympics having been while I was on the road, I didn't get to see much of it, but I have been watching the rest of it, and Cheryl comments on some of the things she and I have noticed.
Perhaps you don't have a cable or satellite connection? We have eight (count 'em, eight) NBC-operated channels on our cable system that are showing various Olympic sports -- some live and unedited in the middle of the night. The classic NBC TV Network seems to be focusing on the crowd-pleasers and of course is doing a lot of time-shifting and editing, but the other channels are offering a wider selection.
Meanwhile, the Little League World Series is having playoffs on ESPN at the same time. Not to mention regular MLB games. This is about as much of a sports viewer as I get.
Well, to be fair, the "lesser" sports are indeed available on the other NBC-affiliated channels -- I only have four of them that I know of. But the complaint I heard on the radio was real; someone griping that there was too much coverage of the Chinese and that Olympic coverage should be of the American Olympic Team. Me, I'm happy to see my country's athletes win, but I'm also interested in the competition for its own sake.
Omaha's cable is also running Mandarin and Korean Olympics channels -- I haven't watched enough to know if it's just a different audio feed or entirely different programming. I'd imagine the radio complainer wouldn't like that, either.
