...but the good kind, really. Yesterday, I bought a new belt because the one I had was too long. I'd already punched two new holes in it and needed another, and the holes I punched were fraying because I don't have a proper leather punch. I've apparently lost enough weight that I need to move down a size. While leaving the van to have the oil and other fluids changed, Cheryl and I walked over to New Park Mall, where I went to Work World (where I buy most of my slacks) and I tried on belts. I had hoped to be able to make a size 42 fit, but I'm not quite there yet, and had to get a 44.

I have some hope that in the not too distant future, I'll need to repeat this process. I do need to remember, the next time I visit my grandfather, to borrow his leather punch and put extra holes in the new belt, because if all goes well, I'll need them.

It's not like I've dramatically lost weight -- I'm only down to 285 -- but the curve is pointing the right way, assuming I don't fall off the wagon too badly this holiday season.

Curves pointing the right way tend to be more useful than dramatic weight loss. Over the long run, anyway.

Congratulations!
