Travel today was very uneventful. Terrorization was annoying because even after taking off my belt and shedding nearly everything, I still was setting off the metal detector, so I had to completely turn out my pockets, and after putting everything back together again, I found that my handkerchief was gone. But otherwise there were no problems. Because of a lot of no-shows for the flight, I got to spread out, with an open seat next to me in Economy Plus, which meant I was able to get nearly three hours of work done on the flight. But now Dinner is on my mind very much, even though it's only about 6 PM subjective time.

So, did the Keystone Kop wannabes ever figure out what was setting off the metal detector?

No, although when I removed my belt, keys, watch, comb, handkerchief, and coins, I managed to get through on the third try. Normally I only need to remove the belt buckle, which is large and bronze, not the entire belt.

Somehow, I'm not surprised. I'm just waiting to see what happens the next time I have to go through airport security, now that I have two screws in my left humerus.
