The contractor who the owner of this unit hires for such things arrived today and examined our leak, and the news is not good. It appears that when water drains from my bathtub, it is leaking onto the floor of Cheryl's bathroom. Cheryl's shower drain also produces a small amount of leakage, but not much. This sounds like a serious leaky drain problem that may require tearing into walls to get at pipes.
In the meantime, at least we have two bathrooms, each with its own shower, and we can use the one that is mostly not leaking for now. We'll probably have to move a couple of bookshelves in another room to get at the wall where the pipes run, but hey, we needed to do a thorough cleaning over in that area anyway. We're not jumping to do anything until we hear what the decision from the owner is.
