According to this announcement on the Amtrak web site, service on the Adirondack (Amtrak trains 68/69) between New York City and Montreal will not be affected by the possible Via Rail Canada engineers' strike. The Maple Leaf (63/64) between New York City and Toronto, will be affected, but I haven't heard of anyone coming to Anticipation by that route.

Color me relieved, as I'm going to be on the Adirondack August 5, boarding at Schenectady after having spent the night after coming off the Lake Shore Limited the previous day.

So, as you're riding across on the Lake Shore Limited, wave (~4:20 in the morning) when you pass stop in Elyria, Ohio. :-) It's just to the west of Cleveland, and the stop I used to get off to go visit my mom, either from Boston (LLL) or from Carbondale, Illinois (City of New Orleans to Chicago, pick up the LLL). I've ridden the LLL from end to end (Boston end, rather than NYC end)...and the City of New Orleans (also the Illini Express and other Carbondale to Chicago or Champaign trains), but it's been many (many) years.

Glad to hear your trip will not be interrupted. See you in Montreal.

I took the Lake Shore Limited as part of my train trip when I was on sabbatical. Because it's not a double-decker train, I found it harder to sleep. Be warned: the train takes curves on a steep angle.
