While driving to work on Monday over the San Mateo Bridge, I noticed a particularly large pothole -- maybe half a meter in diameter -- on the west side of the "high-rise" section of the bridge in the rightmost westbound lane. It was a real tire-swallower; fortunately, I was able to evade it. Tuesday morning, I made a point of noting its exact position relative to the emergency call boxes, and when I got to work, I reported it on Caltrans' Report a Problem page.

Much to my surprise, while driving in today, I saw that the hole has already been patched. Maybe it was already scheduled for patching, and maybe other people had reported it earlier, but maybe they really did respond that quickly to my report.

There's a section of road that, unfortunately, I go through on the way home, which has been degrading hugely day by day, and is becoming quite a risk to the car suspension as of last night. Ranges of intersecting potholes, covering multiple lanes.

I haven't reported it to anybody, though, so if it's not fixed tonight, I suppose it's partly my fault.
