To do it in one day, I leave here about 8:30-9 AM, and drive nonstop to Redding, where I eat at Sonic. I don't stop again until the tank is empty, to refill, and then the next stop is the hotel in PDX. I usually arrive by 10 PM or so. This year, I'm staying in PDX at the Hotel Vintage Plaza, because I got a good deal on a room with a giant tub. It's also halfway between YC's school and her housing.
I've done longer trips in one go by myself, but after about 16 hours, even I get tired. :-)
I guess it's Roseburg -- it's whatever the HIX north of Grants Pass and still close to I-5 is. I don't have your same level of Holiday Inn frequent guest status, so I'm not likely to be upgraded.
