Close, But No Ticket

While I was out for a walk after lunch, a couple of ticket to see the Giants play the Padres this Friday came up on KNBR radio as a phone-in prize. I was quick with the speed-dial, and for a change actually got in the queue (rather than just getting a busy signal), but alas, I was not caller number 15.

Were I a rabidly local baseball fan, I'd have to taunt you by saying "That's OK, the Giants will loose anyway."

But I'm not. At this point my main reason for noticing The Padres is to make sure that they haven't been stupid enough to schedule a home game during ComicCon - and I don't think that MLB is close to that stupid.

Yes, it would be a Bad Idea. OTOH, by sheer luck, during the last San Diego Westercon, the Giants were playing at Petco field, so a group of us Giants fans could take light rail down to see the game. (The Padres won, darn it, but Lisa got the giveaway t-shirt they were handing out that night, and she uses it when doing work around the property in Oregon these days.)

My company is holding a meeting in the Chicago area the first full week of October. I wish the meeting was this week instead; I could have gone in to see the Giants play the Cubs one of the nights I was there. OTOH, the more time I can have to get over this cold and bronchitis before I have to get on an airplane again, the better.
