travelswithkuma and Lisa are apparently safe, but were without power for a while, probably due to the tornado that landed in Aumsville, about 10 miles west of where they are. I haven't spoken with Lisa yet, but I'm relieved to hear that they are okay.

a picture of the damage from that tornado was on national news on TV tonight - I did worry about how close that might have been to Lisa

Pretty close - I hear she and her father were in Stayton (the next town over, even closer) when the tornado hit. On the other hand, the actual destruction was amazingly tightly localized; reports from Stayton tell of high winds and rain, just ordinary bad weather, with little or no property damage.
