Because the Hugos ran longer than expected, and because it was so difficult for the flood of people to get out of the Tuscany Ballroom across the Sorrento Room where our show was, we started very late and even playing only 3 games managed to run past 12:30 AM.

Kudos to Lisa and especially to [livejournal.com profile] yourbob for incredible service well above the call of duty, skipping the Hugo Ceremony to help Lisa make the show possible.

I'd write more, but after packing the show out of the Sorrento Room back into my van, and driving us back to the hotel, we're beat. Fortunately there was still a little bit of food in the room, because we're worn out. I'm so glad I have no appointments tomorrow morning, particularly no 9 AM Business Meeting Setup.

Sorry I missed it, but the rumor mill has it that it was a lot of fun. Maybe Chicago...

Nope. It takes a lot of gear to do the show. Therefore, we're limited to only those conventions to which we can drive, and we're not driving to Chicago. (Our plan is to take the train, actually.) Possibly San Antonio; we're still thinking about that one.

But come on out to Westercon 66 in Sacramento; we're very likely to be doing a show there.

If anything Kevin understates the amount of equipment that Match Game uses.

Hollywood Squares would be worse, but not by all that much.

I'm wondering how difficult it would be to get a similar setup done locally for next year's Chicon. If you tell me what you need, I'm willing to do the legwork.

Warren has family out there, so we'd have a place to stash stuff.

Lisa is very much Not Interested. One of the only reasons the game works as well as it does is because she's intimately familiar with all of the gear that goes into it. With rare exceptions, relying upon things to "just work" when we get to a destination has ended badly.

Yes, of course we could do a lower-tech version of the show, but it's something of a letdown to do it once we've reached the level we're at now.

It's going to be challenging to do the show even at sites we can drive to with a single vehicle now that the gear has grown so large, although pulling the middle seat of the van out may help that somewhat.
