My Nevada license plates for the minivan were waiting for me when I got home on Saturday, and Lisa installed them before we headed to Reno for shopping yesterday.

I couldn't get SMOF because James Stanley Daugherty's vehicle has it, I didn't want SMOF2 in deference to the memory of Bruce Pelz, and I don't feel sufficiently egotistical to claim SMOF1, so I took the next-best thing.

Not only does this plate show off my two major hobbies (a portion of the registration fee goes to the Virginia & Truckee Railroad), but that my car was proudly purchased in the city of Emphysema.

I doubt anyone will get it except when I'm parked at a convention or an SFSFC board meeting, of course.

Hey, only one person has ever realized the meaning of my plates (EXP-626). It's the personal feeling that counts; if someone does get it, that's icing on the cake.

And you know how we diabetics feel about icing. :)

It took me a minute, and I probably wouldn't have realized it was a custom plate if I saw it on the road (three alpha, three numeric was the standard CA plate when I was a child), but I did a mental Kermit-flail when I got it.

JohnO and I had that very discussion awhile back about the differences between CA and MO plates.

If it weren't for the horrendous drive, I'd be tempted to drive it down to WDW and watch people go off the road when they read it. :)

Welcome to the world of the vanity plated. :D

My station wagon (long since gone the way of all scrap metal) had the plate SJ IN O2 (you can't use numeral 0 on California custom plates), and previously SF IN O2 before we were obliged to change sites in mid-bid.

That's right, it's welcome back rather than welcome. (Who had the SF IN 93 plates, then?)

Me again. I changed them when we started the SF bid.

I was going to say that the suffix 3 suggested that there WERE other people who would get it. I see it actually only testifies to ONE other person, though. I might not have thought of the "smof 2" problem, but would definitely have dodged it if I had.

(I'm LENSMAN out here. Not at all sure anybody has actually recognized the reference beyond Minn-StF members; but the reason it's perfect for me is my photography on top of my love for Doc Smith.)

That's a nice license plate and I would recognize it.

Very Nice, Kevin. An appropriate plate for you.
And Jeff - Eh, I understand your plate. Then again, my son's room is decorated with many copies of the little blue alien. :)
And yes, living in California the LLL NNN is so close to standard, it would take a moment to even realize that it IS a vanity plate.
