I am one of the maintainers of [livejournal.com profile] worldcons. At this time, I have no plans on banning anyone from the community, even those who accuse me of unethical behavior. So far, I've approved the applications to join of any user who doesn't appear to be a spambot. So nobody is going to get banned just because someone else appears to have difficulty handling reality.

Heh. I've been a little obnoxious there but I'm actually feeling quite sanguine about it. If you fuck up by not paying attention to something, you don't get to blame other people for your own incompetence.

Tere Kevin,

As I'm being slowly sucked into helping with the Helsinki bid, I have made a request to join. I hope I am welcome.

Yep. The only thing that kept me from approving you sooner was that I had gone to lunch.

LOL Years ago when I was still working in NYC, the phrase 'out to lunch', had a totally different connotation.
Thank you.

To be fair, there are ugly landing charges (and other charges) for flights from America to the UK at the moment. Jay Lake documented this when he was attempting to book award tickets to WFC, the fees and taxes he would have owed came up to around $700/ticket.

But that's not LonCon's fault.

Why is it that other people want this guy to attend the Worldcon?

PS. post title reference noted. Good God, what in the hell are they waiting for?

Thank you for noticing the reference!

(The subject has been on my mind because I was reading Robert Morris: Financier of the American Revolution. Fascinating book about someone who has been effectively erased from much of the history of the Revolution because he overreached in his old age and went bankrupt.)
