I am overdue for new glasses. My eyelid is twitching from eyestrain, and it's getting progressively difficult to read at a comfortable distance. Unfortunately, the only time in the past couple of months when my optometrist was available, I wasn't, and vice versa. I do finally have an appointment in September, but I was really hoping to have this done before Worldcon. As it is, I'll be doing a lot of squinting, it appears.

It doesn't help that I have co-workers who love to keep the blinds open and apparently aren't at all bothered by the huge amounts of glare this causes. I guess they like looking into the sun.

I can understand the desire to keep the blinds open. I tend to find fully enclosed (i.e. windowless) spaces a bit confining.

I can also agree that too much glare on the screen is annoying. I have a horrible time using my (current) home office at times because the sun streams in through the window (which lacks any blinds) right onto the monitor. It also tends to get hot at those same times - worse now that I have to keep the door closed due to an issue with two of the cats who haven't learned to get along.

That being said, I'm hoping that I'm not too bothered by our pre- and post-Worldcon hotel, since we saved several pounds a night by getting the rooms without windows. (At least we paid to turn the TV on, so we'll get a TV as window effect, sort-of)

Do you have a filter on your computer? Or can you wear a sunshade in the office, or clip on sunglasses? Anything to cut down on the glare. And get that eye exam as soon as you can - don't mess with your eyes.
