Inching Closer to an Opening

kevin_standleeRegular readers of this LJ will know that we go to Big R Ranch & Home Supply in Fallon regularly. For the past two years, we have been watching with interest as Big R has slowly been trying to open a Fernley location in what was once an Ace Hardware store on Main Street in Fernley. It seems like the opening has been "two months away" for two years now. But as Lisa and I were out for a walk last night, we saw another sign of progress and maybe that long wait is about to end.
They have a sign up on the front of the building. We also think there's going to be another sign on a tall post in the parking lot. The windows are still papered over, but we've seen lots of activity with vehicles coming and going. They told us as Fallon that they've been training people there to start working at Fernley.
Lisa and I are keeping an eye out for grand opening celebrations. We anticipate being regular customers. It's going to be nice to have a hardware store — and not a big box made-in-China store — within easy walking distance again.
