Swamp Thing (Part 5)
Jun. 11th, 2020 06:38 pmYesterday evening, we finished cleaning the front of the swamp cooler.

Fortunately, the front vent and front panel stains were easily removed with soap and water, with no need to apply CLR or scraping with anything harder than a toothbrush. Unfortunately, we saw a rusty area about 2 cm in diameter that we'd not noticed earlier. Lisa cleaned it as best as she could and applied some of the swamp cooler spray paint over it, which should hold it until the next time we go through a big clean-out.
Aside from a cosmetic cleaning of the various calcium stains on the top of the cooler, everything is good to go. Any day now — possibly as early as tomorrow — we'll start using it with water in the tank. We're already using it in fan mode as needed, but it's noisy, so I have to turn it off when I have a conference call.
