Not-Very-Entertaining System
Sep. 11th, 2006 01:21 pmYesterday afternoon, I started disassembling the many wires from the back of the entertainment center in preparation for probably having to take or ship it to a service center. After removing the six pairs of speaker wires, two antennas, three audio inputs and one video output, not to mention the power cable, I got it free from the next. On a whim, I plugged it back into power and tried turning it on. It powered up. I'm not sure whether I'm happy or not about this. Because the F61 error message it was displaying earlier has two different meanings, I don't really know what's wrong.
So I slowly reassembled the system, one component at a time, cycling the power after attaching each piece. In the end, the whole thing was reassembled and it works again. But whether it will keep working, I don't know. It doesn't seem that likely to me, but for now I'm not going to take any further action, because a repair center is going to have difficulty fixing something if I can't reproduce the error.
