As I thought, that back strain was the rough equivalent of a neck "crick." I'm better today -- not walking around stooped over like I was yesterday. I expect I'll be okay in a few days as long as I don't do something silly.

I'm working from home today, on account of needing to be in Berkeley by 7:30 tonight and thus needing to be able to get to the Fremont BART station by 6:15 or so -- and with the work hours I'm keeping on the Australia Project, that would be bad, because I'd have to leave San Mateo by 5 PM in order to be sure of being in Fremont by 6:15. And I don't want to drive to Berkeley, particularly during commute hours.

I had to be up earlier than I have been for some days, though, because I knew I'd be working from home, but I got another water-shut-off notice for 9 AM to 2 PM today. I don't know what it is with this complex, but they do seem to have a lot of plumbing problems.

Just before hitting "update," I noticed LiveJournal's trick for Talk Like a Pirate Day. Arr! 'Tis a funny one, matey!

Applications for SFSFC's SMOFCon Scholarships have closed and we're currently evaluating them. Meanwhile, the Seattle Westercon Organizing Committee has extended the application deadline on their SMOFCon Scholarship to the end of September. Although their web site doesn't seem to have much information on applying, I received a copy of the application information in PDF form and put it on the SFSFC SMOFCon Scholarship page.
