Resolving the Nippon2007 Hotel Room

Among the mail when I returned home from SMOFCon was a notice from Diners Club MasterCard confirming that the temporary credit from protesting the charge from Nippon2007's travel agency (because they hadn't refunded it more than three weeks after I canceled the reservation on account of finding a significantly better deal on the same room booking directly with the hotel) was now permanent. Because I had people writing to me after I initially posted on nippon2007 about this asking about whether it was ever resolved, I've posted over there as well.
