If I do say so myself, I think our party here at Westercon for Montreal in 2009 was very much a success. It's a fantastic space, Lisa did a great job of decorating it, and plenty of people came through the party. Lisa figured out how to run the video signal from the computer to both of the TV screens in the parlor, so we could show the Montreal promotional video on a continuous loop throughout the party, which added to the room's atmosphere. We sold lots of pre-supports (and friends, etc.) and also collected a handful of ballots to take to Japan. That includes people who put up the $50 to join Nippon 2007 as well as the $45 to vote for site selection.
All this even though we weren't serving alcohol! I'm impressed. But I'm also too tired to write more about it or post photos. In just a few minutes, we'll be saying "Thank you and good night" to the last of our guests. At Lisa's suggestion, I put a placard on our bid table saying that we'll be down late on Monday.
