Cheryl has answered a question posed to her asking about why BASFA doesn't have a clubhouse yet. Even if you're not a regular BASFA attendee, I think you should have a look to read about the inner workings of this Great Fannish Powerhouse that is the Bay Area Science Fiction Association. I particularly recommend reading it if you are [livejournal.com profile] jaylake or [livejournal.com profile] frankwu.

Some minor suggestions of mine appear in the article, too, but don't let that put you off. Comments disabled here; comments belong over there.

Best Fan Writer nominee John Scalzi has generously invited the other four nominees to write something about themselves and their fan writing over on his blog. Cheryl is the first to respond. Comments over there, please.

And yes, that icon is the cat from Cheryl's blog. I mentioned wanting an icon for posts like these pointing toward things she's written, and she suggested that cat and gave me a copy of the file. One of the nice things about having a permanent account is lots of room for icons.

So the Giants should not have let the game get tied up at all, but did manage to put it away with a dramatic walk-off home run in the 11th inning by Bengie Molina, his second HR of the night. Hard-luck-kid award to Tim Lincecum, who pitched well and would have picked up the win if the new closer hadn't blown the save.
