Had another high blood sugar reading this morning (in the 180s). You wouldn't think a single bagel would cause my blood sugar to spike so, but sometimes it does. Two hours after breakfast, I was back to normal, which is good. I had the same thing for lunch today as yesterday (and which gave me a reading in the mid-200s), but this time we went for a walk around Quarry Lakes Park, and the one-hour-later reading was only 88, which is almost too low but is certainly better than the 257 from yesterday.

Aside from worrying over my blood sugar, my life is mostly immersed in this project from work. I see a possible end to the project, but it does feel a bit like solving the babel fish problem in the Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy text adventure game.

Voting in the 2008 Locus Poll & Survey is free and is open until April 15. You don't need to be a subscriber to Locus. You don't need to be a member of any convention. You don't have to pay any money at all. You don't even have to pick from among the works on the drop-down boxes. You can vote for any work published last year.

I have taken to asking most people who complain about how unfair it is that they have to pay absurdly large amounts of money to vote on the Hugo Awards whether or not they have voted on the Locus Awards. Most of them have not. They should do so. The Locus Awards may not be the Hugos, but they have a decent amount of respect within the field.

Why yes, I just cast my ballot this afternoon. How did you guess that?
