As usual, I worked from home this morning, then headed to San Mateo, although not straight to the office, because I was invited to lunch in honor of a co-worker's 15-year service anniversary -- the person who actually hired me into my current job classification, although I don't report to him anymore after three reorganizations. (I actually have more time in the job, but the first 14 months was as a contractor and don't count; I get my 15-year next February.) It was a relatively small affair and I was honored and happy to be invited.
I was not so happy when I got back to my van in the parking garage and found the right front tire was flat. ( Feeling flattened )
Total damage, after the allowance for the one tire that was under warranty: $430 including new lug-nuts required because several of the locking lug-nut covers had fallen off, leaving the existing nuts either too big or too small to properly torque. Sigh. But at least I have a good idea of how long the set will last given proper rotation. I might have gotten 100K out of the previous set if it hadn't been for this incident.
