kevin_standlee: (Fernley)
After breakfast this morning at the Wigwam, I (as I often do) walked up and down Main Street. In front of the former Lazy Inn (now restyled as "Extended Stay Suites," I stopped to take a picture of one of their Christmas displays.

I'll Never Look at One of These the Same Way Again )

After dinner this evening, Lisa and I went out and drove around looking at Christmas light displays around Fernley. There's one subdivision in particular where they put up elaborate displays visible from far away, although they seem to have toned it down a bit this year. Driving across town, we stopped at one place where they have a light show coordinated with music that to which you can listen on the car stereo from their ultra-low-power transmitter. (Ironically given my preoccupation with the Whos, the number playing when we drove up was "You're a Mean One, Mister Grinch.") From there, we continued over to the east side of town, where we drove into a subdivision that unfortunately seems to follow 1960s-70s ideas of design: lots of curves, cul-de-sacs, and no way to find your way out once you're in it. But we weren't in a hurry, and eventually managed to find a road that led back to US-50A, which took us back to town.

Between yesterday and this afternoon, we seem to have finished all of our Christmas shopping and hope to stay home through the holiday if possible. Besides, I have to work on Monday.
