Pull My Lever (Not)
Feb. 14th, 2022 03:36 pmYesterday, I happened to notice that something was not right inside my Astro minivan.
( Broken Lever )
Lisa investigated the hood-release lever and determined that the bracket that holds it in place sot that when you pull on it, the latch releases had simply broken off. Fortunately, this bracket is part of the hood-release cable assembly, and despite the age of the vehicle, the part is still available and not seriously expensive. I ordered a replacement, which should be here in a few days. It will require replacing the entire cable from the cab to the hood latch, but Lisa is confident that we can do this.
Until then, she did figure out a way to get the hood open, although it's cumbersome, so after we confirmed that it works, I closed the hood again and we hope there's no need to open it again until the replacement part arrives and we need to get at the latch assembly to replace the cable.
