Parking Update
Jul. 24th, 2022 08:34 amBecause of the multiple people warning me that a public parking garage for $5/day was obviously impossible and that there must be some sort of catch, I contacted the Whitney Peak Hotel, which manages the Whitney Peak Parking Garage located one block from the Reno Amtrak station, explained that we planned on taking an Amtrak trip and wanted to make sure that we could park long-term in that garage.
Their response was, "You are correct, Whitney Peak does have public parking available for $5/day" with no further caveats.
If the hotel whose parking garage it is says we can park there for $5/day and doesn't say, "...but only if you stay in the hotel," or "...subject to special conditions that will result in your car being towed," and so forth, I'm going to assume that it's okay to park there as long as I pay when we get back. As two weeks parking there will be far less than the cost of a round-trip taxi ride from Fernley, I think we'll give this a try.
