Putting the Money Down

Yesterday afternoon, I stopped by the Fernley Nugget casino to put down a sports bet. It took me a while to figure out how to get to the wager I wanted on the William Hill machine (they don't have a person here; if you want that, you have to go to Reno), and I felt bad about that after I realized that I was holding up another person. In any event, I did go ahead and spend the $50 I got for the old gold crown on a bet for the San Francisco 49ers to win the Super Bowl at +170. That means my $50 bet will win $135 if the 49ers win.

Of course, they'll have to first get past the Green Bay Packers and whoever wins the other divisional-round game this coming weekend. The 49ers are the odds-on favorite to go all the way. For example, the Packers are +3000 (bet $50 to win $1550).`
