Watch Out for Christmas

Because we are are traveling for most of the month of December clear through to New Year's Day, we generally don't have time to do Christmas presents or even cards this year. However, yesterday we made an exception, and I gave Lisa a present that will cover Christmas and also her birthday in January.



This is a Tissot Seastar Chronograph 1000 watch. As you can see, it comes with its own miniature Swiss village.



Lisa says that she usually does not go for "sparklies," but in this case, she's made an exception. A high-quality watch like this counts as a "sparkly" for her.

Lisa is very happy with this watch. She doesn't wear a watch very often, but convention travel is one of the times when she does so, and so this is just in time for our extended Worldcon trip.

I guess I'll have to bring my Tissot with me to DC. I'm hoping that this Accutron gets back from the repairer by the time I have to leave, because it's very "out of this world" looking, very much a timepiece I want to carry at a SF convention.

I offered to loan Lisa the Japanese railroad watch, but she said she had no convenient way to carry it.

Speaking of which (kind of), I have a nice Seiko mechanical stopwatch that I picked up along the way somewhere. If you think it would be useful for timekeeping purposes, I'd be happy to bring it with me.

Yes, that may be useful. The Stopwatch of WSFS (which I bought in 1991 when I was appointed Timekeeper of the Chicon V Business Meeting) has gone walkabout. I though it was in a certain place with other WSFS stuff, but it's not there today when I was trying to pack it.

Very nice! I admit I looked for a circular slide rule bezel, as one of her player characters wore.
