Yesterday afternoon, Lisa and went to Walgreens here in Fernley and got the latest COVID-19 booster. We'd had our previous shots at the Safeway pharmacy in Sparks, but their website shows no availability for any date at all, despite their site trying to direct people to make appointments. Maybe they've stopped doing them? There was plenty of availability here in Fernley, which doesn't surprise me, as I expect at least 80% of the people in the area don't believe there ever was such a thing as COVID, and a similar number probably think that vaccines are part of a Sekrit Guv'mint Plot, and so forth.

While the lead pharmacist at Walgreens was wearing a mask, nobody else, including the pharmacy tech who actually administered the shots, was doing so. I'm not surprised. See above.

Walgreens only has the Moderna booster, which is okay. Our previous four doses were Pfizer, and I've been hearing from reputable sources that mixing manufactures is not a bad thing.

They also wanted us to get flu shots, but while we're aware that there's no credible evidence that having both shots at the same time causes ill effects, we'd rather only have one sore shoulder at a time. We will go back in a week or two and get the flu shot once our arms have recovered from yesterday's injections.

As with all of the other vaccinations we've had, so far all we have is a sore shoulder and neck.

I've heard people say, "Are you seriously planning to keep getting these vaccinations every 6 to 12 months forever?" as if it was a Fate Worse than Death. My response is, "I get an annual flu shot because I'm not a idiot."

I wound up getting my (second) booster and my flu shot same day - and same arm, as the other arm was already occupied by my CGM - back in August, and it knocked me on my ASS. I was happy to do it so I had a full two week uptake on both before we left for the Burn, but with no upcoming travel for you, I don't blame you for spacing them out.

I got a Pfizer shot a couple of weeks ago, after all my previous ones were Moderna. I guess between us it balances out. The earlier shots left me fatigued the next day, but this time the only side effect was the slightest hint of soreness, which could have been my imagination.

We plan our bi-annual Covid shots to coincide in the winter with out flu shots. It's not a big deal. I remember when there weren't any flu shots. I like vaccinations, personally, they keep me from feeling like sit.

Lots of people seem to think it's important to "live without depending on civilisation." They ignore things like water and electricity supplies, sanitation, motorised transport, and so on, because their parents had them, and thus humans have always had them: ignorance of the change in lifestyles over the past few centuries is amazingly common. I count vaccinations as one of the reasons I'm still fairly young at 61, when my father, born 46 yeas before me, was definitely getting old at the same age.

Um, sure, if that's what my doctor recommends. I have seen the doctor annually (at least), the dentist twice annually, they eye doctor even more often, and have taken care of various other health needs regularly. Why not include regular vaccinations, too? I do not understand the objection.

We’re glad we got the new booster 12 days ago. We’ve been up in Washington, visiting my brother. Yesterday his wife tested positive for Covid. We had planned to stay until tomorrow but canceled our plans for meeting other friends. We informed the friends we had just seen and headed home today. No sitting in restaurants on this trip home. We’re doing takeout until we get home tomorrow.

Tetanus booster at some point. Yep.
Despite having had shingles in my early 40s (don't ask) I now qualify for a shingles vaccine. Yep. Will get to it.
I'm asthmatic, so flu shot every year (I've had flu in the last decade when an escape strain was around - minimising the possibility of that again is high on my agenda).
If I have to take a CoViD vaccine twice a year to minimise the risk of getting CoViD and either being severely ill or getting long CoViD (each time you get it seems to increase both chances) then I'm up for it.
