Monitor Trade-Off
Mar. 20th, 2023 02:55 pmAs it turns out, the new monitors can either have higher resolution at a 30 Hz refresh rate, or a lower resolution at a 60 Hz refresh rate. This appears to be a limitation of the monitor drivers on both my work and personal computers. To see if it makes a difference, I've set the shared monitor to the lower res/faster refresh rate for the work machine and to higher res/lower refresh rate for the personal computer.
I have a feeling that I will end up with higher res/lower refresh rate for both machines, because I don't think I need the higher refresh rate for spreadsheets or even video editing, while the higher resolution, even at the lower refresh rate, seems like it would be better for both.
