Ballot Received
Jan. 23rd, 2024 09:12 amAs I mentioned a few days ago, I voted (by mail) in Nevada's Democratic Presidential Preference Primary.
Because at least one person was confused by this, here's a clarification:
The Nevada BallotTrax system sent me email that I received to day confirming that they received my mail ballot.
I hope this clarifies any questions anyone may have had.
Because at least one person was confused by this, here's a clarification:
- Nevada used to be a caucus state, and I participated in the last two caucuses.
- The Nevada Democratic Party asked the Nevada State legislature to institute a primary election for presidential delegates. The legislature did so.
- The results of these primaries (which are based on your party registration) are not binding upon the parties. Indeed, the Republican party has told their members not to vote but to attend caucuses. In both parties' case, the parties will select their delegates by their party rules.
- The Nevada Presidential Preference Primary is February 6, 2024. Early in-person voting starts January 27.
- Those who have registered to vote by mail, like me, received ballots earlier this month. If you receive such a ballot, you can either return it by mail, drop it in designated drop boxes, or vote in person when the polls open.
- I saw no need to wait, and with only one question (Presidential delegate preference) on the ballot, it was not as though it took me long to fill out my ballot and return it by mail.
- Nevada will have primary elections for all other offices in June.
The Nevada BallotTrax system sent me email that I received to day confirming that they received my mail ballot.
I hope this clarifies any questions anyone may have had.
