Lisa and I had never booked a place through AirBnB before this trip. Consequently, we did not understand how to read their listings. What Lisa wanted, and what I would have filtered for if I'd understand how their listings work, was an "apartment," albeit a small one, like something you might get in the USA from Extended StayAmerica: a studio or one-bedroom apartment with a bed, en suite bathroom, and a small food preparation area. What we ended up with was a "room," which is a room in someone's house, shared with whoever the occupants/owners are and possibly others, and no privacy other than the room itself. This was right out for Lisa. I don't fault the person listing the room in their home, and while he won't get the entire two-month stay, he will get one month's rent for a single night's occupancy, which I think is a pretty good deal for him. In the meantime, we won't make that mistake again, and now we have an angle on possible places to re-house Lisa once she can go have a look at them and see if they are acceptable. Having been burned before, this time she wants to see the place before making a decision.
