My current calendar of future Match Game SF shows is:

Although I've been known to re-use questions (the tie-breakers haven't changed much for the last several years since we don't use them often), it would definitely help if we could get some fresh material. Questions should be fill-in-the-blank SF/F-themed questions, and they shouldn't be trivia questions. That is, there's no single right answer. For example:

Bad question: "Einstein said, 'God does not play ___ with the universe.'"

Good question: "Einstein said, 'God does not play dice with the universe. He does, however, play ___ with it.'"

So if you have questions you'd like to suggest, please send them to me. My LJ handle @livejournal.com will work if you don't have any other address for me.

Will send the request over to [livejournal.com profile] ewhac. Sometimes he can come up with good things.

Good questions

I would even go so far as to categorize good questions as those that have a small number of obvious or funny answers. E.g., your first example is a good example of a bad question in that there is, effectively, one right answer. At the other end of the scale, questions which could have legions of answers tend to have no or very few matches. For example, 'Dumb Dave was so dumb, he named his son ____ ." is not a good question, either. The best questions have a few good possibilities and one or two spectacularly funny responses.

Well, that's sort of true. The low-end extreme are those questions like the one I cited that have only one answer because they're factual -- trivia questions. The super-vague ones are sort of okay for the first round, in which the questions are supposed to be difficult, but not the second. I go through a lot of effort trying to sort questions so that the ones I think are more difficult go into round 1 and those that are less difficult go into round 2. It's not like I'm trying to generate scoreless ties.

He does, however, play Scrabble with it.

I host a MisMatched Game in Minneapolis.

I'm sure some won't transfer to San Francisco but if you wanted to exchange, that might ease both our burdens.
I have one at the end of the month, end of May and end of July.
(so I have a lot of writing coming up)
