Well, maybe the new scoring system is less rigged than the old one seemed to be. It does seems remarkable that one of the leading pairs could have a huge fall that completely stopped their long program but still manage to restart and complete the routine and finish in second place. The system did show the deduction for the fall. How Zhang Dan managed to complete the routine after going for a nasty fall after failing to complete the never-been-landed-in-competition move is beyond me. I'm surprised she could walk, let alone skate.

It's hard not to admire such fortitude, and yes, I'm afraid -- sentimental sap that I am -- that I felt a few tears being jerked by the performance.

Watched it right along with you and was similarly surprised -- and easily as much of a sap as you are :>. I still think Peng and Tang had the most *beautiful* skate -- but was absolutely impressed beyond all reason that Zhang Dan was not only able but willing to go on.

Damn.

Silver.

Now *that's* impressive...

(especially in a "judged" not "objective" sport :>)

Put me down in the 'sap' column too. I watched the whole thing [stayed up till 5am] and was riveted by their performance. The determination and good sportsmanship just made my eyes mist over!

Lol, I called myself a sap today too. I liked the sentimentality, but them coming second still feels way wrong.
