I have developed a carpal-tunnel-like pain in my right wrist, possibly from something I did moving logs (not even large ones; just tree branches) yesterday afternoon. Lisa has loaned me her wrist brace, which helps a bit but makes using the computer more difficult.

Years ago when I had a similar situation I taught myself to use the mouse left handed; I did not remap the keys so left key is still left key. I just moved mouse to other side of computer. Now whenever one wrist is tired or sore I just shift mouse to the other side. And when I travel I carry a mouse to attach to my laptop if it is going to be a long session.

A left-handed friend of mine has made a point of flipping the buttons, so that the appropriate actions are still made by the pointing and flipping-off fingers. He doesn't shift between hands, though, so doesn't need to keep fiddling with it.

When only occasionally using a mouse left-handed, I'm certain that learning to remap your fingers will be the simpler route.

I'm normally left-handed and I've always used the mouse mapped for a right hand. Just seemed more natural to me. It also allows me to use the mouse right-handed.
