Not Leaving

Like most of you, I've been dismayed by the recent spate of unavailable LJ caused by a series of DDoS attacks. I don't plan on leaving. I have a Permanent account, after all. But I'm sure glad LJ has come sufficiently back to life that I was able to use LJArchive to archive this journal. Not counting this entry, it reports that I have made 3,801 posts and that there have been 14,220 comments posted to them. The HTML archive files that I exported are about 84 MB, although I guess that doesn't include any of the pictures.

I tried to create an LJBook, but even when I limited it down to just a single day, it failed. I don't know if I'm doing something wrong or if LJ's self-defense mechanisms are rejecting LJBook requests.

Sadly, LJArchive apparently only works on Windows machines.

The main worry is that LiveJournal might die completely. I'll make a backup copy of your journal for you, Bear, but I'll have to talk with Girls about it first.

Best thing to do IMO** is make a backup plan [like several others, I've started a journal on dreamwidth.org] - and THUS - being prepared for the worst ... LJ will continue on just fine and giggle at me. ^_^

I've been able to get into LJ reasonably easily, but I've been following the DDoS reports hoping nothing gets worse.

I've also been mildly entertained by the fact that the status reporter has a Dalek avatar. It's unclear who's attacking LJ. The Cybermen? Sontarans? The Master? Whatever their motivation, I'm sure there is a plan in motion to exterminate them.

Interestingly, I too have not had a lot of problems with LJ. Must be the time of day I get on here.
Any path, I'm not leaving, just setting up Other Means, Just in Case. As it is, I signed up to DW before my Ultimate Fannish ID was used, so I got it! I am auntie_m over there.
I should probably use LJ Archive, just in case. LJ is currently not letting DW move files over to DW. Probably looks too much like a DDoS attack.
